Top 10 NFL Tight Ends for Week 12
(excluding Thursday Night Football)
1. Rob Gronkowski, NE vs. DET
Gronkowski leads all tight ends in scoring, and has five touchdowns over the last three games. He has eclipsed the 100 yard mark three times this season.
2. Jimmy Graham, NO vs. BAL
Graham is coming off his worst game of the season, but he did score two touchdowns a couple weeks ago against the 49ers. The Ravens are one of the better teams against opposing tight ends, allowing the eighth fewest points.
3. Antonio Gates, SD vs. StL.
Gates hasn’t scored since week eight, but is currently tied for second among tight ends in touchdowns. The Rams are currently one of the better defenses against tight ends, having not allowed a touchdown since week seven against Seattle.
4. Martellus Bennett, CHI vs. TB
Bennett has cooled off since his hot start to the season, where he scored four touchdowns in the first three weeks. He has only scored one time since then, but the Bears are coming off one of their best offensive efforts on the season.
5. Larry Donnell, NYG vs. DAL
Donnell has been hot and cold all season, including a three touchdown effort, but also has back-to-back shut outs. The last time they played Dallas he caught seven balls for 90 yards, his highest total of the season.
6. Julius Thomas, DEN vs. MIA
Thomas is questionable for this game, and is coming off his worst effort of the season after suffering a leg injury. He currently leads all tight ends with 12 touchdowns, but the Dolphins haven’t allowed a touchdown to the tight end position since Green Bay in week six.
7. Delanie Walker, TEN at PHI
Walker is another player with an uncertain status for Sunday after he suffered a concussion two weeks ago. If cleared, he has to face the second best defense against tight ends.
8. Jason Witten, DAL at NYG
Witten has struggled this year, but he has scored a pair of touchdowns over his last three games. The Giants have allowed the 10th most points to opposing tight ends. The last time these teams played, fellow tight end Gavin Escobar scored both red zone touchdowns.
9. Owen Daniels, BAL at NO
New Orleans has only allowed three touchdowns to the tight end position all year, and Daniels hasn’t scored since week seven. On the plus side, he has seen 22 targets over the last three weeks.
10. Coby Fleener, IND vs. JAX
Fleener is coming off his best performance of the season, catching seven balls for 144 yards. Dwayne Allen, Fleener’s teammate, left the game last week, and Fleener was able to see his production increase. The last time they played Jacksonville, Fleener was able to reach the end zone.
