NHL Top Plays and Value Options: Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Apologies to any followers who were looking for the SFL Morning Skate today. Unfortunately, I was only blessed with two hands, ten fingers, and only enough blood to work one at a time…or, uh something like that.

Big night in the NHL, particularly for all you DFS grinders out there looking to score big, of course. There are a few big games to take a look at, but we are interested in the best options right now!

I think you are going to find a few of these games to be higher scoring affairs, so that might make things a bit tricky when putting your lineup together. You are probably going to want to start things off in net by going with a value option rather than a top dollar guy. The key is to get as many scorers in as possible for your GPP tournaments because of the high scoring expectancy. More goals = more scorers. Have to find those multi-point guys tonight!

Here are a few of my favorite plays for tonight in the NHL!

Top G: Devan Dubnyk / MIN-G / $19,592

New Jersey just came up with a pretty nice game against the Flyers where they scored five goals, but I don’t think that should deter you tonight. The Devils are not a scoring team and Dubnyk has been phenomenal since being traded to the Wild.

Value G: Cam Ward / CAR-G / $14,564

Ward has been one of the lone bright spots in Carolina so far this season. In two games versus the Blue Jackets this season, Ward is 2-0-0 while stopping 46 of 50 shots against. Solid numbers from a solid goalie.

Top LW: Jamie Benn / DAL-LW / $14,465

Rick Nash is the odds on favorite here, but he hasn’t been the standout you would expect against the Islanders this season. The Flyers are on a down swing and with Tyler Seguin back in the lineup, I like the Stars to put up a bunch in Philly tonight.

Value LW: Nikolai Kulemin / NYI-LW / $6,368

The lineup has been shaken up for the Islanders tonight with the return of Kyle Okposo, but this game has the potential to be a high scoring affair. Kulemin may get bumped down in the order, but the opportunities will still be there.

Top RW: Vladimir Tarasenko / STL-RW / $15,620

Winnipeg is a bit banged up and the Blues have fire power. Vlady Daddy is on a three game point streak right now. Take advantage while the price tag is still low!

Value RW: Chris Stewart / MIN-RW / $6,939

I think there is still a lot of room for Stewart’s salary to rise, so I am riding him now while the price is down. The Wild are playing some great hockey and Stewart is in the mix every night.

Top C: Tyler Seguin / DAL-C / $16,944

The Kid is back in town and he is already sniping cheddar. Two goals in his first game back? Yes sir, Mr. Seguin is taking them down!

Value C: Ryan Spooner / BOS-C / $6,562

Spooner is beginning to become a factor on a nightly basis here. He is on a nice point streak and the Bruins are back on a roll. They are still fighting for their playoff lives, however, and Ottawa is one team out for their spot. Boston will be going hard tonight.

Top D: Erik Karlsson / OTT-D / $12,000

He shoots the puck a ton and finds a way to get his name on the score sheet almost every night. There is no ignoring Karlsson this year.

Value D: Jason Demers / DAL-D / $5,074

With Trevor Daley out of the lineup, Demers has been given a boat load of ice time. What he does with it is up for debate, but the fact is that the value is there based on the minutes alone.
