Nascar Power Rankings – Part 1

Published On June 24, 2013 | By Daily Fantasy Source | Fantasy Nascar Strategy, Nascar

The road course at Sonoma brings on some interesting names that you don’t typically see throughout the NASCAR season. Martin Truex Jr. ended his winless streak that had reached over 200 races, so congratulations are well overdue for the No. 56 race team.

The NASCAR circuit now heads to Kentucky for the Quaker State 400 Presented by Advanced Auto Parts (say that five times fast) for a Saturday night race. Here is a look at the updated power rankings for the Fantasy NASCAR drivers heading into the week.

1. Jimmie Johnson

Last Week: 1st

Finish at Sonoma: 9th

Overall Standing: 1st

Take: It’s going to be hard to knock him off of the spot until he really starts to struggle, but I don’t consider a Top 10 finish a struggle.

2. Carl Edwards

Last Week: 3rd

Finish at Sonoma: 3rd

Overall Standing: 2nd

Take: He’s really starting to show some consistency in the No. 99 car, and with that said, he’s going to be sticking around until the end.

3. Clint Bowyer

Last Week: 5th

Finish at Sonoma: 5th

Overall Standing: 3rd

Take: Another Top 5 finish for Bowyer solidifies him as a top contender for the 2013 Sprint Cup. As long as he can keep this up, he is going to be right there in the end, just like he was in 2012.

4. Matt Kenseth

Last Week: 2nd

Finish at Sonoma: 5th

Overall Standing: 19th

Take: It was a rough spot in Sonoma for Kenseth, but he’s still having a strong season and a hot streak heading into the Summer months of the NASCAR schedule.

5. Kevin Harvick

Last Week: 4th

Finish at Sonoma: 10th

Overall Standing: 4th

Take: A Top 10 finish is just another addition to a strong stretch that Harvick has been on, as he looks to roll that over into Kentucky.
